Northwest Independent School District (NISD) is one of the most progressive school districts in the state where staff and community members are committed to excellence. Northwest ISD spans 234 square miles, serving families in parts of 14 different municipalities and three counties (Tarrant, Denton, and Wise). Northwest ISD has the vision to be the best and most sought-after school district, where every student is future ready:

  • Ready for college
  • Ready for the global workplace
  • Ready for personal success

  • 19,960 Students, PK-12
  • 2,225 Employees, with an additional 434 contracted service workers
  • 26 Educational Facilities
    • 16 Elementary Schools
    • 5 Middle Schools (#5 opening in August 2012)
    • 3 Comprehensive High Schools
    • 1 Accelerated High School
    • 2 Campuses for Special Programs

Northwest ISD is the second fastest growing school district in Texas, attracting approximately 1,400 new students and their families each year. This rapid growth is a result of several factors: strong communities; the number of active housing developments; the attractive lifestyle in the area made possible by the strong housing, retail, and business opportunities; and a number of NISD's programs and initiatives, like:

  • Bell Tablet for all 6th-12th grade students
  • Career Academies for high school students
  • Highly-ranked athletics and fine arts programs

In the fall of 2001, Northwest ISD served approximately 5,600 students. Today, that number has nearly tripled to 19,960, with a projection of 90,000 students by the year 2030.

As a leader in public education, Northwest ISD has earned recognition in Texas and across the United States. Recently, Northwest ISD has been honored with the following:
